Where did we go?

Sandals Ocho Rios- Ochi Rios Jamaica

Sunday-Friday All inclusive- Drinks, Meals, Water Sports, Entertainment Day One- Travel

We left Denver at 6 am to catch a flight to HOU than to MBJ. We arrived in Jamaica with champagne waiting about 5:30pm. After a long day and only two meals, when you are used to six…. We were hungry! We stopped by the Manor House. The portions were perfect. A small appetizer, a well-portioned plate of grilled snapper with vegetables, following a two-bite dessert. We followed dinner with a walk around the resort and to dip our toes in the ocean.

Day two R and R

After sleeping in, we grabbed breakfast and headed to the pool.  We drank, we ate, we did aqua Zumba, and played water games.   That night we headed for a show at the amphitheater.

Day Three- Dunns River and Snorkeling

We started on a catamaran, which took us first snorkeling along the cove.  We saw a ton of fish and marine life, no sharks though.  We got back on the boat and ended at Dunns River Falls.  This is an absolute must if you go to Jamaica!  Note- bring water shoes, hiking in Nike Frees was not advised.

After resting the afternoon and falling asleep at the pool, we had a

MVIMG_20171031_175951.jpgquick shoulder lift at the bar.  The hotel gym was pretty nice for a hotel gym. It had standard cables, a smith machine, dumb bells, a few other machines such as shoulder press, chest press, leg curl, and extensions.  Our shoulder work out took 45 minutes and included:

  • Shoulder Press 4 x 15
  • DB Front Raises 4 x 15
  • Cable Lateral Raises 4 x 15
  • DB Lateral Raises 4 x 15
  • Rear Delt Flys 4 x 15

 

 

 

We had a quick snack at one of the restaurants, following a full meal at the hibachi grill.

Day four more R and R

 

Day Four we started out with fasted cardio, a quick 30 minutes.  Following a beautiful breakfast, we headed to the beach to kayak.

After Kayaking we hung on the beach, swam in the ocean, ate some lunch and got a quick chest lift in.   The total work out was about 40 minutes.  We did:

  • Incline Machine Chest Press 4x 15
  • Smith Machine Chest Press 4 x 15 (SS Push Ups)
  • Cable Flys High 4 x 15
  • Cable Flys Low 4 x 15

After our lift, We headed to dinner at our favorite place, Valentinos.  Where we ordered wine, pasta, and chocolate cake.

Following Dinner, we headed to the speakeasy, the only speakeasy on any Sandals resort.  We had some specialty drinks, Nick ordered a red neck lemonade and I had some martini while we listened to the live band.

Day Five Biking the Blue Mountain

This was my favorite day. Biking through the rainforest, visiting a school, authentic brunch and lunch on the mountain and fresh, really fresh, coffee.   It rained the entire time, and the bus ride was about 2 hours there and 2 hours back, but it was absolutely worth it. We got to drive through some of the most rural parts of Jamaica. We saw children going to school, workers going to work. The school children recited bible verses to us and sang a few songs.   It was an amazing way to close out 28.

Day 6: Back Home

Our vacation was awesome. and neither Nick nor I gained any weight despite drinking and eating more than we usually do.   We stayed active, had fun, and relaxed. Our next adventure will be New York in a few months so stay tuned!
