You have your diet plan, your cardio plan, and your workouts. What are you missing? What more is there? I see this hashtag thrown around the fitness world like confetti #selfmade. 5,912,357 tags this morning. Go ahead and check out how many have been added since I wrote this. Your goals don’t need self made, they need a support team, they need accountability and they need a tribe.
Definition of self-made
Merriam Webster: made such by one’s own actions; especially: having achieved success or prominence by one’s own efforts

I don’t doubt YOU worked hard, YOU made those early morning cardio sessions, YOU worked till nine pm on that report, no one did it or will do it for you, but that does not mean you are self-made. There is no such thing as an army of one. (Except for RAMBO, but even he turned me to we in the Expendables)
To foster true grit and true growth you must first foster a network of support and a network of accountability. Self-made should be about how your network of support made it possible for you to pursue your dreams.

- Set goals for 2018, and write down WHO will be your support and your accountability buddy. Do you want to lose weight? Get a coach, join a group challenge, ask a friend to join you on your journey. To go fast go alone, to go far go together.
- Find groups of people that are interested in the same things you are! Social media is AWESOME for connecting people as well as apps like MEET UP.
- Support Others. People are more likely to reciprocate support that has been shown to them.
- Join a support challenge! Get a group together! Join an already existing group!
I don’t want to be self-made. I value relationships, the betterment of other people, and creating a network of support in which we all thrive. Build a community. Go Far.
